Oklahoma Receiver Tweets Displeasure In Lack Of Playing Time

The Sooners got back on track Saturday with a 52-46 win over the TCU Horned Frogs in Ft. Worth, Texas. That doesn’t mean that everyone is necessarily excited though as senior receiver Jarvis Baxter Tweeted out his displeasure with his lack of playing time shortly after the game. The Tweet didn’t stay out there very long, before it was deleted, but is was there long enough for The Oklahoman’s Brooke Pryor to get a screen shot of it.

Baxter, a native of the Garland, Texas area, came to OU in 2015 as a JUCO transfer. 247Sports had him rated as a 3-star prospect and the nation’s #19 junior college receiving prospect. He played in thirteen games in 2015 for Oklahoma, making five starts, catching 20 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown.

After playing in Oklahoma’s first two games of the season, Saturday marked the second consecutive contest where Baxter didn’t see the field. So far, in 2016, he’s caught three passes for 42 yards and also has one carry that went for a 40-yard touchdown against Louisiana-Monroe.

As the Sooners are looking to correct their on-the-field mistakes, protecting the mood of the locker room is pretty critical. It’ll be interesting to see how the team chooses to handle this situation. My guess is that it’ll be internally.
