Oklahoma State Drops Opening Series At Grand Canyon

After dropping their season opener, 1-6, on Friday night, Oklahoma State came back to even things up with Grand Canyon on Sunday evening behind a two-hit/two-RBI performance from Andrew Rosa.

In relief, Gabe Benavides and Mick Vorhof completed the shutout by allowing just three hits over the final three innings.

OSU starter Carson Teel was responsible for all four Grand Canyon runs and picked up the loss in his season debut. GCU scored all of their runs off seven hits and book ended their scoring with two solo home runs.

Junior Greg Saenz took advantage of a hitter’s count (3-1) and send the ball over the fence in left-center to start the scoring in the bottom of the third. Two innings later Griffin Barnes doubled to right-center and then came home two batters later on a throwing error by OSU first baseman Dustin Williams.

Leading 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Ian Evens sent a solo shot to right field to produce the final score of 4-0.
