Oklahoma Sooners & Tennessee Vols Renew Series For 2020, 2024

The Oklahoma Sooners have renewed a home-and-home series against the Tennessee Vols. Set to take place on September 12th in the year 2020, the SEC opponent travels to Norman for a non-conference meeting. Then on September 7th in the year 2024, the Sooners travel to SEC territory as the two programs meet once again in Knoxville.

“The games in 2014 and ’15 demonstrated a tremendous respect between two storied programs, as well as between a pair of passionate fan bases, and so for the players, coaches and fans,” Joe Castiglione noted, “we’re excited to renew this high-profile series.”

Finding themselves on opposite ends of the field four times in the past, OU owns a 3-1 record over Tennessee. The lone loss happened in 1936 as the Vols claimed a 17-0 victory.

While the fan bases may be excited about the future pairing, others are disappointed that the Volunteers failed to bring a band in 2014. Moving forward, will Memorial Stadium be filled with the sounds of one of the most recognizable fight songs in Rocky Top? Only time will tell.
