In the midst of the Women’s College World Series, the Oklahoma Sooners found success off the diamond in a completely unrelated sport. Late last night, Dillon Faamatau announced his commitment to play for Coach Bob Stoops in Norman after playing on the JUCO circuit.

Initially, the 6-4, 305-pound defensive tackle verbally committed to the USC Trojans. Yet, a few issues quickly arose preventing Faamatau from joining the 2017 Class in Southern California. As Bob Pryzbylo of Scout puts it, “Because of issues with his academic credits transferring, he wasn’t able to be a member of USC for the 2017 season but would have had to spend another semester in junior college before arriving in spring 2018.”
Clearly in the wake of the news, OU Coach Calvin Thibodeaux began hard-selling a visit to the Oklahoma Campus. The visit led to a commitment knowing Faamatau would join the Sooners 2017 Class earning immediate eligibility. In order to remain on track and enroll at the University of Oklahoma, the Cerritos Community College product must finish up a few summer courses.
