As the NBA season gets underway you’re going to recognize some familiar faces wearing different jerseys from last season. The Oklahoma City Thunder were among the most active teams in the offseason, adding All-Stars Carmelo Anthony and Paul George. However, there were all types of significant moves made throughout the league, from Chris Paul playing in Houston to Dwayne Wade joining LeBron James in Cleveland.
Ten different teams added nine or more players to their rosters in the offseason, led by Boston who added twelve new players. The Los Angeles Clippers had the second most with eleven. The defending champion Golden State Warriors made only four moves but it was Milwaukee and Portland who were the least active by only adding thee players each.
Here’s a look at some of the bigger roster moves that you may have missed or forgotten about.
Boston Celtics
The Celtics made some waves by acquiring Kyrie Irving from Cleveland, but also new to Boston are Gordon Hayward, previously with Utah, and Marcus Morris who had been with Detroit.

Brooklyn Nets
Among Brooklyn’s eight new players are DeMarre Carroll, Allen Crabbe, Timofey Mozgov, and D’Angelo Russell.
Charlotte Hornets
Center Dwight Howard has officially become a journeyman in the twilight of his career. The big man has transitioned from Atlanta to Charlotte and the Hornets have also acquired Michael Carter-Williams, formerly with Chicago, to join him.
Cleveland
Already the best team in the east, the Cavs picked up Jose Calderon, Jae Crowder, Jeff Green, Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas, and Dwayne Wade.
Denver Nuggets
Former Atlanta power forward Paul Millsap has a new home in the Mile High City.
Detroit Pistons
Avery Bradley moved from Boston to the Motor Ciity and Langston Galloway came from Sacramento to join him.
Golden State
The defending world champs strengthened their bench by adding Omri Casspi from Minnesota, Georges Niang from Indiana, and Nick Young from the Lakers.
Indiana Pacers
The Pacers acquired Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis from Oklahoma City and also brought in Bojan Bogdanovic from Washington and Darren Collison from Sacramento.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers turned their roster over by adding Patrick Beverly, Sam Dekker, Montrezl Harrell, and Lou Williams in a trade with Houston. They also lured Danilo Gallinari to come from Denver and Willie Reed from Miami.
Los Angeles Lakers
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope bolted from Detroit to be a Laker and Brook Lopez left Brooklyn to join him.
Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies added eight new players to their roster. The most notable is former Sacramento shooting guards Tyreke Evans and Ben McLemore.
Miami Heat
Former Dallas shooting guard DeAndre Liggins has taken up residence on South Beach and one-time Boston big man Kelly Olynyk is there with him.
Milwaukee Bucks
Among Milwaukee’s six new additions are former Boston and Minnesota shooting guards Gerald Green and Brandon Rush.
Minnesota Timberwolves
The young Temberwolves sought out veteran experience by Jimmy Butler from Chicago, Jamal Crawford from the Clippers, Taj Gibson from Oklahoma City, and Jeff Teague from Indiana.
New Orleans Pelicans
Assistance for the twin towers is coming in the way of Tony Allen from Memphis and Rajon Rondo from Chicago.
New York Knicks
The Knicks acquired Enes Kanter and Doug McDermott from Oklahoma City, as well as picking up Michael Beasley from Milwaukee and Tim Hardaway Jr. from Atlanta.
Oklahoma City Thunder
In addition to Carmelo Anthony and Paul George, the Thunder also picked up Raymon Felton from the Clippers and Patrick Patterson from Toronto.
Orlando Magic
The Magic looked to the west in order to boost their roster. They picked up Arron Afflalo from Sacramento, Shelvin Mack from Utah, and Marreese Speights from the Clippers.
Philadelphia 76ers
Among the new faces in Philly this season are Amir Johnson from Boston and JJ Redick from the Clippers.
Sacramento Kings
The Kings picked up a couple of Memphis teammates in Vince Carter and Zack Randolph.
San Antonio Spurs
Making their debut for the Spurs will be former Kings small forward Rudy Gay and Bulls power forward Joffrey Lauvergne.
Utah Jazz
The Jazz picked up nine new players over the offseason. Among them are former Minnesota and Atlanta guards Ricky Rubio and Thabo Sefolosha.
