4-Star 2019 Corner Prospect Commits To Sooners

Oklahoma’s 2019 recruiting class grew a little stronger on Friday with the commitment of Woodi Washington.

The 5-11/175 prospect from Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee announced via Twitter that he’d be joining the Sooners in next year’s class. Ranked as the nation’s 20th cornerback prospect, and the #4 overall prospect from Tennessee, Washington chose Oklahoma from among the nineteen scholarship offers he currently holds.

Thought to have his decision come down between Oklahoma and Ohio State, Washington also held offers from S.E.C. heavyweight Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M among others.

He becomes the 15th commitment in Oklahoma’s 2019 recruiting class but the first at the cornerback position. Recruited by Kerry Cooks and Dennis Simmons he joins a group that 247Sports currently has ranked as the #4 recruiting class in the nation.

Last season, as a junior, Washington recorded 41 total tackles and 5 interceptions. Most recently he visited Alabama’s camp (June 17th) before making a commitment to Oklahoma.
