Over the past weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners were forced to play without a pair of starting safeties. There’s no telling exactly how the move effected the game but Texas Tech managed to put 46 points on the scoreboard. Looking ahead, it doesn’t appear as though the situation will change.
Kahlil Haughton | Safety| Questionable
Suffering a lower body injury, Kahlil Haughton missed the past game while tending to the ailment. Recording 50 tackles before being sidelined, the senior provided leadership as well as experience in a young backfield. Without Haughton available, the group must turn toward another responsible player. Yet, no specifics are available leaving the future status of the safety up in the air. Look for Haughton to be questionable for the Bedlam contest.
Brendan Radley-Hiles | Safety/Nickleback |Questionable
Delivering the hit of the game two weeks ago, it was clear that Brendan “Bookie” Radley-Hiles sustained a shoulder injury. Laying face down on the field, medical staff rushed to aide the young safety. Walking under his own power to the sideline, Bookie never returned to the game. The following week, it was revealed that the freshman was suffering from a concussion requiring medical clearance before being able to suit up. Responsible for 31 tackles, Radley-Hiles remained a bright spot for the defense. However, without a clean bill of health readily available, Bookie is also questionable for Bedlam.
Jonathan Alvarez | Center | Questionable
Jonathan Alvarez failed to appear in the previous two contests as a member of the offensive line. Suffering from an undisclosed injury, the lineman was previously listed as a candidate for the Rimington Award. Losing the battle for starting center to his younger counterpart, Alvarez is in his final year of eligibility after redshirting last year. Unfortunately, it looks like the Mesquite, Texas native has been relegated to the sideline with no time table for a return. A day-to-day decision, Alvarez remains on the questionable list.
