Oklahoma Sooners Football | Kyler Murray Named Walter Camp Player of the Year Finalist

On Wednesday afternoon, the finalists for the Walter Camp award were announced. Given annually to the nation’s best college football player, the list has been cut to five. Featured as one of the hopefuls is none other than Kyler Murray, the quarterback of the Oklahoma Sooners.

Leading the team into battle time and time again, Murray continuously delivers victory after victory. Posting a 10-1 year thus far, the quarterback has thrown for 3,674 yards which ranks eighth in the country. Connecting on 37 touchdown passes, the numbers alone are eye-popping. Yet, the signal caller is not a one dimensional player. Possessing the ability to move the chains with his feet, Murray has also rushed for 853 yards on 113 carries. Behind the productivity, it’s easy to see how the junior’s name landed on the lists of finalists.

Joining him from the Big 12, Will Grier’s name appeared on the short list as well. Of course, Tua Tagovailoa is also there alongside Gardner Minshew. With four quarterbacks listed, the lone defensive player featured for the Walter Camp award is linebacker Josh Allen.

The winner will be announced on December 6th.
