Oklahoma’s Run-Rule Streak Extends To Four Games

Junior pitcher Mariah Lopez was finally tagged for a run when UK’s Lauren Johnson sent a solo home run shot over the right field fence in the top of the first. That would be it for the Wildcats on the scoreboard though as Oklahoma would get to cranking it in the third.

Oklahoma Softball Completes Third Consecutive Run Rule

Taking the circle in her first start as a Sooner, FIU transfer Shannon Saile threw all five innings of Sunday’s shortened contest against San Diego State. In doing so, she allowed just one hit and struck out eight batters as the OU offense backed her with nine runs in four innings to secure the win.

Lopez Pitches Complete Game Shutout As Sooners Sweep Opening Day

A junior from Saugus, California, Lopez held Syracuse to just one hit in her complete game season debut. She allowed ample time for Oklahoma’s offense to kick in and power the fourth-ranked Sooners to six runs over the final four innings.

What’s Next For Oklahoma Softball?

For the first time in a long time Oklahoma will enter the 2019 softball season with a bunch of question marks. Gone are the aces in the circle, gone is the team captain, and shortstop, gone is one of the most reliable catchers in the nation. What remains is a drive to continue dominating the Big 12 and making regular appearances in Oklahoma City in late May, and those chances are far from gone.
