Big 12 Football Week Five Recap | The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Big 12 Conference play was in full swing over the weekend and while it’s still very early there are a few things starting to shape up. Baylor and West Virginia remain the only undefeated teams but it certainly didn’t come easy. Oklahoma won the battle of the preseason favorites in Ft. Worth and Oklahoma State dialed up the pressure on Charlie Strong with a thrashing of the Longhorns in Stillwater.

Sooners Return To The Polls

After a one-week hiatus the Oklahoma Sooners have returned to both the AP and the Coaches Polls. Checking in at #20 this week, OU joins Baylor (#13) and West Virginia (#22) as Big 12 schools ranked in the AP. The Coaches Poll has the Sooners at #22, with Baylor checking in at #11 and West Virginia at #20.

Big 12 Football Week Four Recap | The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly

Going into college football’s fourth weekend of the season the Big 12 Conference had two undefeated teams remaining. While the conference also left the weekend with two undefeated teams, it’s becoming more and more clear that there isn’t a playoff caliber team in this league right now. That doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t any good teams in the conference, as this week’s Good, Bad, & Ugly will show, it just means there aren’t any great teams.

As college football’s second weekend has come and gone the black eye on the Big 12 remains. The teams that should have won did but the teams that really needed to didn’t. The Big 12 lost games on Saturday to the Big 10, the PAC 12, the SEC and the MAC while picking up wins over the American, Conference USA, the Sun Belt, . There’s not a lot of pride in that.
