After starting as a true freshman with the Alabama Crimson Tide and cementing his legacy with the program, the graduate transfer will lend his talents to the University of Oklahoma for a single season. The decision comes after the Sooners were left out by Vegas odds makers. Regardless, Hurts choose Norman over the likes of the Miami Hurricanes and Maryland Terrapins.
As the starter in 2017, Hurts threw for 2,081 yards alongside 17 touchdowns. Tossing just a single interception, the play from the quarterback set the tone for the Crimson Tide who ended the season with a National Championship. Now, with the addition of Hurts under center, the expectation during this new chapter remains the same.
Immediately, the Sooners are now expected to find a way into the College Football Playoff behind the experience and selfless leadership displayed on the field by Hurts. However, joining a program the caliber of OU, the signal caller will undoubtedly find himself in the Heisman conversation before the season even starts.
It’s a new day! Welcome to Sooner Nation!
