On Wednesday, Kliff Kingsbury appeared on The Jim Rome Show prepared to answer questions centering around the most recent edition of the NFL Draft. Stating that the offense would cater toward the skill set of quarterback Kyler Murray, the No. 1 Overall Pick. However, when asked if the signal caller would trot out onto the field as the starter during week one of the season, Kingsbury simply responded with, “we’ll see.”

Utilizing a bit of ‘coach speak,’ not many fans are buying into the statement especially after a Steve Keim guest appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. During the segment, the general manager fielded a similar question.

When asked directly if Murray would open the regular season as the starter against the Detroit Lions.

“Yes,” Keim said emphatically.

“You did not stutter,” Eisen responded.

“No,” Keim said while Eisen chuckled. “We didn’t draft him [No.] 1 overall to ride the pine. I know it’s a lot to put on his back, but that’s why we drafted him.”

Ultimately, the only way at this point for Hundley to start the regular season is if Murray suffers an injury during the summer.

Despite the initial statement provided by Kingsbury, the man appears to have changed his tune. One day removed from the situation, the head coach once again responded to the same question. This time in line with the GM of the Arizona Cardinals, Kingsbury told Mad Dog Sports Radio, “You don’t take him in our situation at No. 1 to sit him on the bench.”

Now on the same page, the thought of Kyler Murray earning the week one start seems inevitable.
