Oklahoma Football | Sooners Get Sloppy Win In Lawrence

Advertisements

A thirty minute weather delay at the onset of the game made the field in Lawrence, Kansas a bit sloppy. Oklahoma made insured that the play on the field was sloppy. A rash of injuries on the offense, a potential lack of focus on the defense, and one of the more talented running backs in the conference made for an extremely uncomfortable opening quarter.

Kansas took a 7-0 lead with three minutes and some change remaining in the opening frame when Daylon Charlot caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Carter Stanley. It was the first time Oklahoma had trailed all season and the first time the Sooners had surrendered points in the opening quarter of a game.

The deficit didn’t last long as Trey Sermon would hit paydirt from from two yards out to tie the game. Midway though the second quarter Jalen Hurts put the Sooners up for good with a one-yard run of his own. From there the Sooners settled down a bit on their way to an eventual 45-20 win.
