Midway through conference play, the Oklahoma Sooners hit the road once again for a contest with the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Knowing wins away from home have been hard to come by this season, Lon Kruger hoped to reverse the trend. Despite holding a half time lead, the program dropped below .500 in the league while suffering a loss in Lubbock by a final of 69-61.
In the end, three point shooting ultimately decided the contest. Knocking down nearly 40% of the attempts from beyond the arc over the weekend, Brady Manek and OU failed to convert on the road. Firing up 24 shots against Texas Tech as a team, only six found the bottom of the net. The effort produced a dismal 25% conversion rate from three point land.
On the other end of the court, the Sooners defense failed to slow down the likes of TJ Holyfield and Kyler Edwards. The duo collected five buckets from beyond the arc on six attempts. As a team, the Red Raiders connected 55.6% of the time. Taking fewer shot attempts, the reward remained great allowing TTU to secure a victory.
Oklahoma schedule does not get any easier in the coming weeks as three opponents ranked inside the top fifteen await the Sooners. Are a few upsets in store?
