Series History

The Thunder went 1-1 (1-0 at home, 0-1 on the road) against the Cavs last season.

Why the Thunder Will Cover (+3.5)

The Cavs are one of those fringe teams. They’re on the brink of being pretty good, but they could also swing into mediocrity if they’re not careful. They have the star talent of Donovan Mitchell and plenty of quality pieces, but they are dealing with some injuries. Jarrett Allen is out with a bone bruise, and Darius Garland is questionable with a strained hamstring. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the best player in this game, and OKC is mostly healthy. With the way they finished strong on Wednesday, I’m taking the Thunder to cover (and win) in Cleveland.

Why the Game Will Hit the Over (227.5)

The Thunder shot the ball about as well as they possibly could in the opener against the Bulls on Wednesday. I wouldn’t expect them to shoot close to 50% from three like that again, and Cleveland actually allowed the fewest points per game a season ago. Still, between OKC’s high-powered offense, and the Thunder still navigating how to be the best defensive team that they can be, I’m expecting another high-scoring affair tonight in Cleveland.
