Oklahoma transfer Deion Burks was arrested on June 1st for driving under the influence, speeding, and possessing an open container of alcohol. This resulted in a misdemeanor charge in Cleveland County. Burks, expected to be a key contributor for the Sooners this season, remains with the team for now.
A Separate Incident for Another Sooner
This is the second arrest of a Sooners player this week. Defensive back Makari Vickers was arrested by OU Police on Wednesday. Details surrounding Vickers’ arrest haven’t been released.
Team Statement and Player Availability
The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is aware of both situations and is handling them internally. While no official statement regarding playing time has been made, a source suggests both players have practiced with the team recently. Their availability for the season hinges on any internal disciplinary actions taken by the Sooners.
