2024 Heartland Sports SEC Power Rankings: Week 9

Advertisements

This may be the most we’ve ever agreed on our rankings in a one week period. We were unanimous on three different programs, including Georgia at #1 and Mississippi State at #16. Beyond that, we were just one vote away from being unanimous on four other programs. We were pretty close to being like minded, and it left us with seven programs in the same spot as they were a week ago.

Make sure to check out our individual rankings below.

Individual Rankings

Caleb

1. Georgia | Georgia rolled into Austin and showed the country they are still a top dawg in the SEC.

2. Texas | The only positive for Texas to come out of Saturday is they learned throwing trash onto the field will reverse the call.

3. Tennessee | Tennessee needed a big bounce back game and they got it.

5. Alabama

6. LSU

7. Vanderbilt

8. Ole Miss

15. Auburn | Auburn let another win slip out of their hands.

16. Mississippi State | Mississippi State is doing a great job at playing top ranked teams close for some reason…..

Craig

1. Georgia | Georgia proved they deserve to be back at the top with a win over Texas. 52-3 in the last 55 games is absolutely insane.

2. Texas | The Longhorns took a step back last week. That being said, losing to Georgia is nothing to be ashamed of and Texas can still control their own destiny.

3. Texas A&M | The Aggies will have to play a lot better when they take on LSU next. That being said, they remain one of two teams without a conference loss.

4. LSU

15. Auburn | Auburn kept it close but couldn’t get the job done against Missouri. It feels like they’re super close to figuring things out.

16. Mississippi State | Mississippi State falls to 1-6 on the season and has to beat Arkansas this week to keep their bowl aspirations alive.

Matt

1. Georgia | The defense set the tone for the Dawgs 30-15 win over Texas, including seven sacks and forcing four turnovers that Georgia turned into 17 points.

2. Texas A&M | Eight different players caught at least one pass for the Aggies last week. Texas A&M has now won six games in a row.

3. Tennessee | The Vols scored 24 points in the second half to turn a 7-0 deficit into a 24-17 win over Alabama.

4. Texas

5. LSU

16. Mississippi State | The Bulldogs actually have some manageable games coming up in the next few weeks to close the season.

Zack

1. Georgia | The Bulldogs showed once again why they really are the top dog. They manhandled Texas, and now they get an easier matchup at home against Florida.

2. Tennessee | The Vols squeaked out the win at home against Alabama, and while they still have work to do, they’re still in a great spot

3. Texas | The Longhorns finally faced a challenge, and their weaknesses were exposed. They still have plenty of time to make adjustments, but now they go on the road against Vanderbilt.

4. LSU

5. Texas A&M

6. Alabama

7. Ole Miss

8. Missouri

9. South Carolina

10. Arkansas

15. Auburn | Well, they certainly gave Missouri everything they had, but they’re still looking for their first conference win.

16. Mississippi State | Still winless in the SEC. Still at the bottom.
