Missouri’s Quarterback Situation Remains Uncertain Ahead of Oklahoma Clash

Missouri Tigers’ quarterback Brady Cook’s status for their upcoming game against Oklahoma remains uncertain. While head coach Eli Drinkwitz expressed confidence in Cook’s preparation, stating, “I know y’all are going to ask me about injuries… I’ll welcome all the questions you wanna ask, and I will defer to the injury (availability) report (that) will be released tomorrow night,” the team has yet to provide a definitive update on his availability.

If Cook is unable to play, backup quarterback Drew Pyne would likely take over. However, Pyne has struggled in limited opportunities this season, raising concerns about Missouri’s offensive performance. “We put (Pyne) in some bad situations and we’ve got to protect better, we’ve got to establish the run better and we can’t turn the ball over,” Drinkwitz said.

The Tigers’ depth at the quarterback position is limited, with only preferred walk-on transfer JR Blood and freshman Aiden Glover available as potential backups. While both players have potential, they lack experience at the Power-Five level.

Missouri’s coaching staff has been tight-lipped about Cook’s injury, with Drinkwitz stating, “We’re focused in on trying to treat the whole body and getting healthy. Spirit, soul, mind, body — all of it.”

The uncertainty surrounding Cook’s status adds an extra layer of intrigue to the already highly anticipated matchup against Oklahoma. The Sooners are facing road opponents in two of its final three games, and are currently one win shy of bowl eligibility.
