Oklahoma’s Armed Forces Bowl Depth Chart: A Mixed Bag of Experience and Youth

Oklahoma has released its depth chart ahead of its Armed Forces Bowl matchup against Navy. In it, there are many things confirmed that we already knew, like Michael Hawkins being QB1 and Danny Stutsman being absent. However, there are also some new nuggets of info that we can glean from this release.

One of the first things that stuck out to me was that Damonic Williams is still on the depth chart. The 6-1/312 defensive tackle has yet to announce a decision about his future, but the fact that he’s listed at least gives an indication that there’s a chance of his return in the crimson and cream for the 2025 season.

Andy Bass on the depth chart at running back is fun. To our knowledge, he’s not been healthy all season. Of course, the Sooners are stacked at the position, but having a young man available who was a 100-meter state champion is always a plus.

The running back situation as a whole is really interesting. I don’t see how it can’t be Xavier Robinson at #1, but we’ve got the “or tag” for four different guys. I know that injuries have been a thing across the board, but to this point, this position has really not been affected by the transfer portal. Is not choosing to ride with one or two guys a good idea? I guess we’ll find out.

Back to the defensive side of the ball. I love seeing Ethan Downs listed. This is the definition of a program guy. His draft stock isn’t likely to be affected much by this final game, because he has an entire career’s worth of film already out there, but he’s still plugging away for the team.

There’s been a lot of criticism for Joe Jon Finley in regards to not landing a tight end in either the 2025 class or the transfer portal, but I’m not ready to give up on Kaden Helms or Davon Mitchell. I will say, though, if Mitchell really is 289 lbs then that’s going to be super interesting.

This game is definitely poised to give us a glimpse of the future. In all, there are 26 either redshirt or true freshmen listed on this depth chart. That’s a lot of youth!
