Oklahoma Sooners At Temple Owls | How to Watch, Storylines, Odds, & Predictions

Oklahoma travels to Philadelphia with a 2-0 recornd and carrying forward a strong defensive effort from its win over Michigan, and questions about its ground game that averages just 3.5 yards per carry. The Sooners mixed 40 rushing attempts for 138 yards and supplemented that with efficient passing to produce 408 total yards on 74 plays. Defensively, they were stout: Michigan completed just nine of 24 passes, and Oklahoma limited the Wolverines’ running game to 146 yards on 32 attempts. Through two games, the Sooners have yielded just 8.0 points per outing and sit among the national leaders in pass defense (conceding about 88 yards per game in the air) and scoring defense. They look the part of an SEC contender, though their modest rushing attack and four turnovers so far show there is still room for improvement.

Temple also comes into this game undefeated at 2-0, but with a very different offensive profile. In their last win, the Owls rolled up 560 total yards on just 66 plays, averaging over eight yards per play, and ran for 329 yards at 6.6 per carry. Their offense has been explosive, mixing strong running (260 yards per game) with a capable passing attack, while their defense has held opponents to about 8.5 points per game so far, allowing only minimal production through the air and moderate success on the ground. When these two units meet, it’s going to be a test of Oklahoma’s defensive discipline against Temple’s offensive rhythm—and whether the Sooners can force enough stops or turnovers to make up for the difference in explosiveness.
