Thunder fans received devastating news Thursday night as a Thunder spokesperson alerted some local media members that shooting guard Andre Roberson received a setback on his road to recovery after having surgery to repair a rupture patellar tendon several months ago.
Andre Roberson had a setback in his recovery, per a Thunder spokesperson. The initial injury is said to be healing well, but he had an irritation from a suture that was creating discomfort that he couldn’t play through. He will be re-evaluated in two months.

Roberson was hoping to return to the floor by the Thunder’s season opener, but his likely return was going to be sometime in November. With this recent procedure, he will be re-evaluated sometime in early December at the earliest, but he could be out even longer than that.

The loss of Roberson is a huge blow to Oklahoma City’s defense, and the Thunder will likely call on Alex Abrines, Terrance Ferguson, and perhaps some of the new, young guys.
The good news is that when Dre returns somewhere around midseason, he should have plenty of time to get back into the flow of playing by the time postseason rolls around. Either way, his longterm health has to be priority one, and we hope to see him back in a Thunder uniform sooner than later.
