One day. That’s all it took for Bowie High School (Arlington, Texas) safety Ty DeArman to flip to Oklahoma. How hot are the Sooners on the recruiting trail right now? Hot enough that they only offered the 6-0/190 Arizona State commitment this morning and by late afternoon his letter of intent was signed and turned in.
Ranked by 247Sports as the 124th best prospect in the state of Texas, DeArman was literally all over the football field last season. Passing for 483 yards, and two touchdowns, running for 344 yards, and three touchdowns, and catching 16 passes for 121 yards and one more score made him a Jack of all Trades on the offensive side of the ball.
However, it’s what he did defensively that made him the hot commodity that Oklahoma coveted. It wasn’t just the Sooners though. DeArman earned 28 total scholarship offers, including Big 12 foes Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State and Texas Tech.
He became the second safety prospect to commit to Oklahoma on Signing Day, joining Jeremiah Criddell. Unlike Criddell though, DeArman was still committed as of this morning which makes his pledge to the Sooners a bit more unexpected and exciting.
