Another Oklahoma defender has reportedly entered his name into the transfer portal and, According to Jason Kersey of The Athletic, this time it is redshirt freshman Miguel Edwards.
A member of Oklahoma’s 2018 class, Edwards (a native of Deerfield Beach, Florida) was a 3-star recruit who had drawn 24 scholarship offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, and Miami. It appeared at the time of his commitment that he had narrowed his choice down to Oklahoma and Miami, Florida.
While there’s no reason yet given for Edwards to seek a transfer, playing time naturally becomes a factor. With new defensive coordinator Alex Grinch playing a plethora of defenders through the first four games of the season, Edwards has only made his way on the field one time this season.
He becomes the second defensive back to enter the transfer portal since the season started, joining Starrland Baldwin who was also a member of the 2018 class.
