Oklahoma needed some late inning heroics from behind the plate and a spark from their ace to pull off a Saturday sweep and and move to 4-0 on the season.

Just minutes after completing a come from behind victory over George Washington, the Sooners were back on the diamond for what ended up being a pitcher’s duel with BYU at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge.

Oklahoma sophomore Kinsey Koeltzow broke up the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth when she came home on a Grace Lyons fielder’s choice. The Flores sisters knocked in two more runs in the frame with Alycia bringing in Grace Green and Eliyah scoring Lyons to give the Sooners a 3-0 heading into the seventh.

Shannon Saile and Giselle “G” Juarez combined to strikeout 11 BYU batters with Juarez being responsible for the lone Cougar run that came in the top of the seventh. Saile tossed the first five innings for the Sooners but Juarez picked up the win in throwing the final two frames.

Oklahoma comes home from Mexico 4-0 on the season and will next head out west for the Hillenbrand Invitational in Tucson, Arizona beginning on February 14th.
