Official Game Notes

It’s been a long season for Oklahoma State football. What started off as a bright and exciting year quickly turned south, and after the Bedlam loss in Norman last weekend, hopefully the Cowboys have made the necessary adjustments to finish the season on a strong note.

Oklahoma State hosts West Virginia in the regular season finale Saturday morning, and while the Mountaineers have struggled to a 4-7 record, they cannot be overlooked. The Mountaineers aren’t exactly an offensive powerhouse, but they did manage a win against Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago, and Dante Stills is a monster on the defensive line.

Today will be a special day, regardless of the outcome, as a handful of seniors play their last game in Stillwater. This season may not have turned out the way that the Loyal and True would have liked, but fans are grateful for the dedication from these players.

How the Cowboys Can Win

Oklahoma State has to figure out a way to hold the front line on offense. Dante Stills is a talented defensive lineman who has haunted opposing backfields for years. If he and the other Mountaineers find a way to wreak havoc on the Cowboy offense, then it could be a long day. However, if Oklahoma State’s O-line can give Spencer Sanders and the running backs time to make some things happen, then the Cowboys should win easily.

How the Mountaineers Can Win

West Virginia can win this game if they can move the ball. Obviously scoring more points than your opponent wins you the game, but even when Oklahoma State’s defense has been awful, they have still managed to find ways to slow teams down, particularly on third down. If the Mountaineers figure out how to convert on key downs and make their way down field, they could upset the Cowboys at home.
