In his first year suiting up for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2021, transfer running back Eric Gray made an immediate impression. His versatility as a dual-threat back added another dimension to the Sooners’ offense, and his consistent play throughout the season solidified his role as a key contributor.

Gray saw action in all 13 games, even earning a starting nod in six contests. One of his most impressive performances came against Nebraska (9/18), where he displayed his ability to handle a heavy workload. He racked up a season-high 84 rushing yards on 15 carries, averaging a healthy 5.6 yards per carry. This strong performance was instrumental in the Sooners’ narrow 23-16 victory over the Cornhuskers.

Beyond the Nebraska game, Gray consistently contributed throughout the season. He finished his debut year with a total of 412 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. However, his skillset extended beyond the ground game. Gray also displayed his receiving ability by hauling in 23 receptions for 229 yards and two additional touchdowns. This well-rounded playmaking ability made him a valuable weapon in the Sooners’ offensive arsenal.
