Official Game Notes

The Oklahoma State football team is in complete disarray. They have lost 6 straight games, Mike Gundy has completely lost faith in the Cowboy fanbase, and it’s hard to see a win coming out of the remaining schedule. Still, the season goes on, the games must be played, and if you have to play, you might as well play to win.

After a poor homecoming showing last weekend against Arizona State, the Cowboys now travel down to Ft. Worth to take on the TCU Horned Frogs. TCU has struggled their way to 5-4 on the season while going 3-3 in conference play, but a win today would make them bowl eligible. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State would have to win out to get to a bowl game.

How the Cowboys Win

I’m not even sure it’s possible for Oklahoma State to get a win at this point, but if it’s going to happen, it’s going to have to be on the shoulders of the defense. TCU’s pass offense is the best in the conference, and if the Cowboys can’t get stops, a turnover or two, and maybe even a defensive touchdown, then I don’t see them getting a win against the Horned Frogs.

How the Horned Frogs Win

TCU essentially just has to show up and play the game. I have such little faith in Oklahoma State nowadays. In all seriousness, if the Horned Frogs can get anything going on the ground, it’ll be light work for them. They have the best pass game in the Big 12, but their run game is even worse than Oklahoma State’s. If they can manage just a little bit of success in running the ball, the pass game will be that much more open.
