Ella Parker’s Hot Bat, Sam Landry’s Perfect Game Power Sooners to SEC Awards

The No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners softball team continues to make waves in their first season in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), with two of their top players earning SEC weekly honors. Sophomore standout Ella Parker was named Co-SEC Softball Player of the Week, while senior transfer Sam Landry was selected as SEC Co-Pitcher of the Week. The conference announced the accolades on Monday, February 17, following Oklahoma’s dominant performance at the Getterman Classic.

Parker’s Bat Stays Hot

Ella Parker has been on an absolute tear at the plate, earning her second consecutive SEC Player of the Week honor. The Los Angeles native was nearly unstoppable in Waco, hitting .750 (9-for-12) with nine runs, six RBIs, two doubles, and two home runs. Her power display included a two-homer game in an 8-0 run-rule victory over Hofstra, and she recorded multiple hits in three of the four games.

Parker currently leads the SEC in batting average (.647), hits (22), and doubles (7), proving to be one of the most dangerous hitters in the conference. She has hit safely in all 10 of Oklahoma’s games this season and has crossed the plate in nine of those contests, showcasing her consistency and impact at the top of the Sooners’ lineup.

Landry Makes History with Perfect Game

Senior right-hander Sam Landry delivered a historic performance, becoming the first Oklahoma pitcher to earn SEC weekly honors. The Mont Belvieu, Texas, native, who transferred from Louisiana, previously won seven Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week awards before joining the Sooners for the 2025 season.

Landry was untouchable against No. 23/24 Baylor, throwing a five-inning perfect game in an 8-0 victory. Across two appearances during the Getterman Classic, she pitched 5.1 perfect innings, striking out eight and allowing no baserunners. Her perfect game marked the 23rd in Oklahoma program history and the second of the 2025 season.

So far, Landry has been a major asset for the Sooners, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.72 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 20.1 innings. Opponents are hitting just .194 against her, and she has only issued two walks in five appearances.

Sooners Continue Dominance

Oklahoma’s dominance at the Getterman Classic saw them go 4-0, with all victories coming via run-rule. They defeated Hofstra and Baylor twice each, improving to 10-0 on the season for the fourth time in five years. The team’s offensive firepower and elite pitching have positioned them as one of the top contenders in the SEC and beyond.

As the Sooners continue their first SEC campaign, Parker and Landry’s performances highlight the depth and talent of this year’s squad. With key players stepping up in crucial moments, Oklahoma remains a powerhouse in college softball, poised to make another deep postseason run.
