Game Preview: No. 19 Oklahoma vs. Dallas Baptist
Tuesday, April 8 | 6:30 p.m. CT | L. Dale Mitchell Park | SECN+

Fresh off another competitive SEC weekend, the No. 19 Oklahoma Sooners (23-8, 5-7 SEC) remain home Tuesday night for a midweek showdown against a familiar foe in the Dallas Baptist Patriots (20-11, 5-4 CUSA). First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT at L. Dale Mitchell Park, with Chad McKee and former OU pitcher Rich Hills on the SECN+ call. Radio coverage will be provided by Toby Rowland on SportsTalk 1400 AM/99.3 FM The REF and streaming via The Varsity app.

The Sooners enter the contest with momentum on their side, having compiled an impressive 23-8 overall record, including two wins over top-10 opponents and a strong 11-0 start to the season — their best opening since 2011. Though OU has faced a gauntlet in SEC play, including two series against top-10 competition, Skip Johnson’s squad has held its own and looks to keep building toward the postseason.

Dallas Baptist arrives in Norman with a dangerous lineup and a recent edge in the series, having won three straight and six of the last seven meetings with the Sooners. However, OU still holds the all-time series lead at 26-19, including a 21-9 mark at home.

Pitching will be key Tuesday night, as both teams are likely to use a committee approach to preserve arms for the weekend. Oklahoma’s depth on the mound and improved bullpen have been major storylines this season, and that depth will be tested again by a DBU offense capable of generating runs in bunches.

At the plate, the Sooners have relied on timely hitting and aggressive base running to create scoring opportunities. Expect OU to apply pressure early and often in an effort to reclaim momentum in the head-to-head series with the Patriots.
