Oklahoma Defensive Tackle Courtney Garnett Transferring To Grambling State

As first reported by Bob Przybylo of Sooners Illustrated, former Sooners defensive lineman Courtney Garnett is heading to Grambling State. A former 3-star recruit from New Orleans, Garnett came in as a member of the 2014 recruiting class.

The 6-1/301 prospect sat out the 2014 season after suffering an ACL tear and never was able to make his way back up the depth chart. Despite being healthy in 2015 he didn’t see any game action and apparently his career was heading towards the same fate for the 2016.

He was rated as the nation’s 39th defensive tackle coming out of high school and had received offers from schools like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and USC.

The Sooners currently have seven defensive interior linemen on their roster with Jordan Wade being the only senior in the group.
