The Sooners class of 2017 could very well be on the verge of adding one of the best linebackers in the class of 2017 in Nashville, TN product Jacob Phillips 6-3/230.
Phillips is the number 37 overall ranked prospect in the class of 2017 according to Rivals. He has a had a very busy recruitment to begin his senior season, visiting Alabama, Notre Dame, LSU, Texas A&M, and the Sooners.
Phillips has narrowed things down and is set to announce his decision on Wednesday.
**Breaking** @NashFootball linebacker @jacobphillips_1 tells us that he will be committing this Wednesday at 2:30. Congratulations JP!

I think it goes without saying that adding Philips to this class would be a monstrous addition that would add some serious defensive firepower to this class. Philips has the size 6-3/230 to be a monster at middle linebacker (he will easily play at 240lbs+), yet is definitely athletic enough to excel in pass coverage as well.
So the big question is will Phillips commit to the Sooners on Wednesday? I am cautiously optimistic that he will. We won’t have to wait long to find out.
