Oklahoma bounced back from their loss to Northern Iowa with a 70-64 win over Clemson to place third at the Tire Pros Invitational in Orlando, Florida. Jordan Woodard paced the Sooners with 21 points and was supported by 17 points from Christian James, 14 from Kameron McGusty, and 10 from Khadeem Lattin.
Oklahoma nearly blew a second-half lead for the second game in a row but were bailed out by James. The Sooners led 47-29, with less than twelve minutes remaining, when Clemson went on a 27-11 run to pull within two points at 58-56. That’s when James went on a stretch where he connected on three consecutive treys to help push OU back up to a 65-56 lead with 2:07 to play.
The Tigers never pulled to within five points after that and Woodard closed out the game with a layup and a pair of free throws. Averaging 18.7 points, 6.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 steals during the three-game tournament was enough to earn Woodard a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Oklahoma returns to Norman on Friday to host Abilene Christian.
