After a lackluster shooting performance in the first half, the Wisconsin Badgers torched the nets in the second half to secure a lopsided win. Connecting on 52.4% of their shots in the final 20 minutes of play, the home team downed the Oklahoma Sooners by a final of 90-70. The win marks the fifth consecutive for the Badgers while the Sooners suffered their second loss of the year.
However, it wasn’t a cake walk for Wisconsin. Inside the paint, the Sooner established dominance early refusing to let an entry pass enter the blocks untouched. Contesting each and every shot, the likes of Khadeem Lattin and company held the Badgers to a mere 24 points in the paint. It’s certainly a building block head coach Lon Kruger can lean on moving forward and into conference play.
Kameron McGusty provided a bit of a bright spot connecting on all four attempts from the field collecting 11 points. The freshman who averaged 3.3 points per game throughout his first three appearances has bumped that number up to 9.3 over the past four games. He was joined by sophomore Christian James who tallied 11 points of his own.
Leading the way for the Sooners was none other than Rashard Odomes. Pouring in a team high 17 points on 70% shooting from the field. While the group may be young, they are showing signs of development and understanding.
Next up, Oklahoma faces Oral Roberts in Norman looking to collect a sixth win on the season.
