For the fourth straight time, the Oklahoma Sooners have suffered a loss. The most recent of the stretch comes at the hands of one of the hottest teams in the country, the No. 4 Baylor Bears. With the 76-50 loss, the Sooners drop to 6-6 overall and 0-1 in conference play. Needless to say, these two programs stand at the opposite ends of the spectrum.
Jumping out to a 36-17 halftime lead, Johnathan Motley and the rest of the Bears seized control of the game. Never looking back, Motley finished the game with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Two others joined the forward in double digit scoring as the team shot 47.6% from the floor.
On the other end of the court, the Sooners connected on a poor 32.7% of their attempts. There’s no denying this squad misses the presence of Jordan Woodard who sat out for the second straight contest. In his absence, Christian James collected a team high 11 points. However, the biggest surprise of the evening may have been Kristian Doolittle’s lack of production as the freshman finished with zero points.
Without an answer for a stiffling defense, the Sooners never found themselves able to take control of the game. Getting a sniff of the difficulty the Big XII presents on the hardwood, Oklahoma has their work cut out moving forward.
