Oklahoma State senior guard Phil Forte was scoreless at the half as the Cowboys faced a 44-40 deficit in Morgantown. Twenty minutes later Forte had scored 13 second half points and the OSU was walking off the floor with an 82-75 upset win.
As the game approached “crunch time” Forte made his presence known by scoring nine points over the final five minutes, including four made free throws during the final minute of the game. He served as a one-man wrecking crew against an opportunistic Mountaineers squad that made an attempt at a late push to protect their home floor.
The Cowboys are currently riding a conference best five-game winning streak, which has firmly put them in contention for an at large NCAA Tournament bid. The Pokes are now 15-8 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Oklahoma State will host the Baylor Bears on Wednesday night. The Bears beat the Cowboys 61-57 on Jan. 7 in Waco..
