The state of Arizona had not been very king to Oklahoma State this week but it was the Cowboys who got the last laugh with an 18-4 thrashing of #19 Arizona State on Tuesday. O-State pounded the Sun Devils’ pitching staff to the tune of 18 runs off 22 hits. What’s most impressive about OSU’s offensive performance is that the high number of runs scored game without a single home run being delivered.

The Cowboys held a 3-0 lead going into the sixth but they quickly doubled it off a pair of RBI-singles from Cameron Dobbs and Andrew Rosa, and a sacrifice fly by Garrett Benge. OSU then exploded for twelve runs over the final three frames.

Dobbs ended the day going 4-for-5 from the plate and delivering a team-high four RBI, while also scoring four runs himself. It was his debut for Oklahoma State and the freshman shortstop was far from disappointing.

Catcher Travis Wacker scored twice and delivered three RBI on a 3-for-4 performance. In all, twelve Cowboy batters recorded at least one hit and eight produced at least one RBI.

Freshman Jonathan Heasley recorded a win in his debut after throwing five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out two.

Up next for the 2-2 Cowboys is a three-game series against Texas State that begins on Friday.
