Originally reported by Chris Vannini of CoachingSearch, the Oklahoma Sooners have officially hired a special teams coordinator/offensive assistant from Lehigh. Filling the void vacated by Chip Viney — who left to join Jay Norvell in Nevada — will be Ryan Dougherty.
As a former punter and graduate assistant at East Carolina, it goes without saying that Dougherty and Lincoln Riley have an established and working relationship. Moving on from ECU in 2014, Dougherty landed at Lehigh. During his time as a Mountain Hawk, the coach helped the program move from a 3-8 squad to a 9-3 team.
The hire fills out the coaching staff for the foreseeable future.
