The Oklahoma Sooners put a perfect conference start on the line against the Baylor Bears. Playing in front of a home crowd Paige Parker took the circle in a top fifteen showdown. However, Oklahoma needed a few extra innings to put away the Bears to remain undefeated in conference play this season.
Through eight innings of play, both programs failed to score a run. Finally breaking the scoreless drought, the Bears crossed the plate putting the pressure back on the home team in the ninth inning. With a lead-off single, Sydney Romero pulled momentum in favor of the Sooners. A sacrifice bunt and a double later, Romero evened the score at 1-1 before a double play ended the threat.
Once again in the tenth inning, the Bears pulled ahead with solid base running 2-1. Being moved all over the outfield, Face Aviu stepped up to the plate with a single out and two on. Finding a pitch she likes, Aviu swung the bat sending the ball to left field. Looking to end the game, the coaching staff sent Alissa Dalton around the bases followed closely by Caliegh Clifton.
Dalton crossed safely while Clifton raced against the throw.
Sliding in before the tag could be applied, Clifton lifted the Sooners past the Bears 3-2. The effort marks a 17th consecutive win for the crimson and cream.
The two heavy-hitters clash twice more in a double-header on Sunday afternoon for the series.
