As the close of the 2017 NFL Draft approaches, several hopefuls are still waiting to hear their names called. One of those was the Oklahoma Sooners linebacker, Jordan Evans. Unlike some of the others, the wait for the former OU player has come to an end. With the 193rd overall pick, the Cincinnati Bengals selected Jordan Evans.

With the ability to move from sideline to sideline, Pro Football Focus compared Evans to the likes of Zach Brown. If you remember correctly, Brown was a Pro Bowl Selection in 2016. Of course, the comparison is more of a ceiling than an expectation if anything.

Unlike some of the linebackers hailing from Oklahoma in the past, Evans shows above average instincts in pass coverage. During the past season, the senior recorded four interceptions while displaying athleticism others only dream of possessing. Yet, posting a 4.5 40-yard dash time didn’t hurt either. Had Evans run at the NFL Combine, the number would have ranked second among all linebackers.

This prospect could compete for time simply based on his ability to drop into coverage in an ever growing pass-happy league.
