The Oklahoma Sooners ran through the Big 12 Conference slate thanks to a potent offense. Bursting onto the scene, Dede Westbrook proved to be a worthy opponent for any and all challengers. Setting several school records, Baker Mayfield and Westbrook were up to their usual antics against Kansas State early into the 2016 season.

In the fourth quarter, Mayfield dropped back working through the progression. Finding a wide open Westbrook, the ball was hurled into the air. Securing the catch, Westbrook streaked up field untouched as he crossed the goal line. The effort produced an 88-yard touchdown pass, the longest at home in school history. However, it also pushed Westbrook’s touchdown mark up to eight over a three game span — another school record.

On that day, Westbrook recorded nine receptions for 184 total yards alongside three scores. Dazzling fans each time out on the field, this was simply a stepping stone to becoming the best receiver in all of college football in 2016. Moving forward, the Sooners must find a replacement for the production Westbrook leaves behind after being drafted into the NFL.
