In 2016, wide receiver Dede Westbrook put together quite an impressive resume before leaping into the NFL. Quickly recognized as a playmaker, the Heisman finalist capped off the year with a memorable play against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Dropping back to pass, quarterback Baker Mayfield surveyed the field. Unable to find the open man, the pocket began to collapse. Scurrying out of harms way and toward the line of scrimmage, Mayfield found a receiver making his way back toward the action. Hurling the ball through the air, the pass was caught by none other than Westbrook.
Securing the ball near the boundary with a defender pursuing, Westbrook stopped on a dime. Evading the would be tackler, the receiver carried the ball the rest of the way untouched. The result was a 69-yard reception and a touchdown for the Oklahoma Sooners offense. With the first score of the outing, OU claimed their first lead of the game.
