Heading into the season, the Oklahoma Sooners inherited the skills of Kyler Murray. Now eligible to play after sitting out due to the transfer rule, Murray entrenched himself in the quarterback race despite playing baseball in the spring. Battling it out with Austin Kendall, it appears as though the backup position has finally been awarded.
On Monday afternoon, Lincoln Riley stepped up to the podium to address the media. Making the decision, the newly minted head coach announced Murray as the No. 2 quarterback. With the move, Riley dropped a bit of unexpected news stating that Kendall would redshirt this upcoming season. Despite the ruling, the position remains three deep as, if anything were to happen, Kendall could still play.
The Oklahoma Sooners are set to take on the UTEP Miners this upcoming Saturday. Fans will likely see a glimpse of what Murray is capable of on the field. Catch all the action at 2:30 PM on FOX.
