Each and every year, the Biletnikoff Award goes out to the nation’s top receiver. However, any player who catches a pass is eligible for the award regardless of position.  Periodically, receivers are added to the watch list as season performance dictate. With a handful of receivers putting up big numbers this past week, the list of candidates has grown.

That brings us to the addition of Mark Andrews. The Oklahoma Sooner failed to score in the Bedlam Rivalry game yet hauled in three receptions for 102 yards. Posting a total of 701 receiving yards on the year, the big tight end has proven valuable to the OU offense time and time again. It wasn’t until recently that a teammate passed Andrews on the season in terms of receiving yards.

It required a 265 yard performance on nine catches to pass Andrews’ mark but Marquise Brown completed the feat. Emerging as a homerun type threat, Brown displayed speed and agility. Crossing the goal line twice, the performance of the young receiver did not go unnoticed. Behind and eye popping stat line, Brown’s name was added to the watch list as well.

As the season rolls on, Andrews and Brown will hope to follow in Dede Westbrook’s footsteps. The former Sooner star took home the award in 2016. Semi finalists will be announced on November 13th.
