Oklahoma Sooners Football | Mark Andrews A John Mackey Award Finalist

And we’re down to three! On Monday afternoon, the John Mackey Award Selection Committee announced the finalists for the award based upon a confidential ballot. On December 6th, a winner will be chosen from the lot of Mark Andrews, Troy Fumagalli, and Mike Gesicki. The following day, the recipient of the award will be presented with a trophy during the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show.

As the only junior of the group, Mark Andrews has started all eleven games of the 2017 season. Throughout the campaign, the Oklahoma Sooner has hauled in 47 receptions, a number with ranks first on the team. Collecting 787 total yards, Andrews has crossed the goal line five times. However, those numbers don’t tell the entire story.

The most experienced receiver on the roster, Andrews quickly became an integral part of the offensive scheme. Creating mismatches time and time again, the junior has caught 23 passes of 15+ yards through these eleven games. It’s a mark that also ranks first on the team as the next closest is Marquise Brown with 15 such instances.

The impact on the field is undeniable. Now fans must wait to see if Andrews is crowned as the nation’s most outstanding tight end on December 6th.
