Oklahoma State Basketball Dismisses Davon Dillard And Zack Dawson

The bench for Oklahoma State basketball just got a little more thin. On Thursday head coach Mike Boynton announced that junior guard Davon Dillard and freshman guard Zack Dawson had been dismissed from the team for failing to, “meet the standards of Cowboy basketball.”

Neither of the players were key contributors to the 7-2 Cowboys. Dawson, a Miami, Florida native, had played in five games this season, with a season-high 15 minutes of game time coming in a 91-48 win over in-state foe Oral Roberts University. Dillard, from Gary, Indiana, had also appeared in five games with a season-high 13 minutes coming in a 101-74 win over Houston Baptist. Dillard was averaging 4.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per contest, and Dawson was contributing 4.4 points and 1.6 assists per game.

Oklahoma State suffered their second setback of the season last week against #3 Wichita State and will play #19 Florida State in Sunrise, Florida on Saturday. Tip is set for 1:00 PM and the game will be televised on FS2.
