The 2018 class continues to grow for the Oklahoma Sooners late into the recruiting period. On Wednesday evening, Colleyville Heritage middle linebacker, Deuce Nisbet, announced his intentions to continue his education and collegiate career at the University of Oklahoma. A preferred walk-on, Nisbet joins the Stoops twins as late commitments opting to walk-on at OU.
Very excited to announce that I will be continuing my education and football career as an invited walk-on at the University of Oklahoma! Thank you @OU_CoachKish for this amazing opportunity #BoomerSooner pic.twitter.com/g13F1lMJTe

At 6-2, 215-pounds Nisbet joins a class loaded with talent on the defensive side of the ball. The approach during the recruiting cycle has been well documented and it appears as though Lincoln Riley is attempting to bring in physical defenders. With three other linebackers having signed with the Sooners — or expected to — Nisbet remains the only inside linebacker according to Oklahoma Diehards.
We’ll have to see if the effort in recruiting quality defenders pays dividends on the field. But, that could easily take two, maybe three years as it takes time to learn the scheme and operate inside of it efficiently.
Regardless, welcome to Sooner Nation Nisbet!
