Under the direction of Patty Gasso and Melyssa Lombardi, the Oklahoma Sooners pitching staff leads the nation in ERA. It’s a stat line that continues to bring success on the field as well as for the individuals. Behind the recent heights, the two have now been named to the USA Softball Women’s National Team coaching staff.
For the first time in their careers, Gasso and Lombardi will be a part of the US National Team. The duo will step in alongside Laura Berg who has been named the head coach as the team prepares for the Japan All-Star Series. The series is set to take place in June as the USA goes head-to-head with Japan.
A second roster for the International Cup has formed and Gasso has been asked to head the inaugural team. The USA Softball International Cup is scheduled to take place in sunny California from July 9th-15th. It’s an event in which seven of the top ranked countries will compete.
