In a potential Women’s College World Series preview, the Oregon Ducks got the best of the Sooners on Thursday night. Ace Paige Parker dropped her season record to 21-2 after surrendering three runs, on four hits, in three innings.
Senior DJ Sanders took Parker deep to left field in the bottom of the first, scoring Alexis Mack in the process, to put the Ducks up 2-0. Freshman Mary Iakopo then took Parker deep in the third to make it 3-0.
A pair of singles scored two more Oregon runs in the fifth to set up a 5-0 victory over the second ranked Sooners.
Junior Megan Kleist limited Oklahoma’s powerful offense to just one hit, while striking out five batters and walking just one. Jocelyn Alo was the lone Sooner to record a hit on the night.
OU will continue their trip to Oregon with the first of a two-game series against Oregon State coming up on Friday. First pitch in that contest is set for 4:00 Central.
