Bedlam Softball for the opportunity to go to the Women’s College World Series?
That’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility as the NCAA Softball Tournament is set to get underway this weekend.

The Sooners are the favorites to advance from the Norman Regional but it won’t come easy. Boston University (39-18), Missouri (28-27), and Tulsa (33-23) are all coming to Norman to have the first opportunity to unseat the back-to-back national champions. As much fun as the Norman Regional is going to be, fans should also be keeping an eye on the action taking place 250 miles to the northeast.
The winner of the Fayetteville Regional will take on the winner of the Norman Regional for a berth in the Women’s College World Series…and that brings up the possibility of Bedlam.

Oklahoma State (38-20) is traveling into S.E.C. country to play against Arkansas (39-15), Wichita State (30-21), and DePaul (35-15) in what is setting up to be a highly competitive regional.
The Cowgirls lost to Wichita State, 5-3 in Stillwater, on March 27th and then fell again, in Wichita 9-6, last month. That’s the only opponent in the regional that Oklahoma State has faced this season but it’s enough to show that they’ve got their work cut out for them if they want to advance to the Super Regional.
For Bedlam to take place in the next round a heavy favorite would have to hold serve in Norman and an underdog would need to wreak havoc in Fayetteville. That’s a long shot to say the least.
Nothing is ever a guarantee in the NCAA Tournament. That’s why people love it so much! It’s also the reason Oklahoma fans will be paying attention to the “other regional” while cheering for the Sooners this weekend.
