Jalen Redmond & Chanse Sylvie To Miss 2018 Oklahoma Football Season

As Oklahoma’s football camp is now just a couple of weeks away the Sooners spent Sunday morning visiting with fans and then the media. Among the nuggets of information released during Lincoln Riley’s press conference was that two defensive players would miss the upcoming season.

Freshman Jalen Redmond is dealing with blood clots in his lungs and Chanse Sylvie is going to miss the season with an Achilles injury.

Redmond, a weak side defensive end from Midwest City, is expected to make a recovery and play football again in the future. However, Riley said that at this time his health was the primary concern. Coming out of high school he was the 8th ranked weak side defensive end in the nation and 4th overall prospect from the state of Oklahoma.

Slyvie, a 5-11/193 safety from Shreveport, Louisiana, has played in 25 games during his career at Oklahoma, including all 14 last season. He’s recorded 20 total tackles.
